Jakarta, Aug. 20 -- The death toll from the major earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has risen to 75 as of Thursday afternoon, the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) reported.

Acting Head of the BNPB Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication, Berton S.P. Panjaitan, confirmed that four additional fatalities were recorded on Thursday, bringing the total up from 71 the previous day.

"The four additional deaths were reported today, comprising two in Sikka District, one in Manggarai District and one in Nagekeo District," Berton said during a virtual press conference monitored from Jakarta.
