Jakarta, Sept. 14 -- The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) confirmed that there were no wave anomalies indicating a tsunami in the Sunda Strait following increased volcanic activity at Mount Anak Krakatau.

"Based on 24-hour monitoring, we confirm there is no tsunami. Any reports of receding waves or unusually high waves are false," Semeidi Husrin, a researcher at BRIN's Research Center for Geological Disaster, said during a disaster-related discussion on Monday.

According to Husrin, the information was obtained through intensive monitoring using the Inexpensive Device for Sea Level Measurement (IDSL), which is installed in the Rakata Island area.
