Jakarta, Sept. 6 -- Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected no sea-level anomalies around the Sunda Strait as of 7 a.m. Sunday, despite geomagnetic disturbances and increased volcanic lightning linked to Mount Anak Krakatau's eruptive activity.

The agency based its assessment on data from 20 tsunami gauge sensors around the Sunda Strait.

Acting BMKG Deputy for Geophysics Ardhasena Sopaheluwakan said sensors in South Lampung and Serang detected geomagnetic disturbances alongside increased volcanic lightning over the previous 12 hours.

The disturbances were less intense than those recorded during the initial eruption, Sopaheluwakan said, referring to the ongoing activity at Mount Anak Krakatau.
