Jakarta, March 2 -- Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has assured that the trade agreement between Indonesia and the United States will not increase the country's energy import quota.
"Our annual liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) requirement is 8.3 million tons, while domestic production stands at 1.6 million tons. We need to meet the remaining 7 million tons through imports. The second is fuel and the third is crude oil. These are what we agreed on yesterday in the United States for purchases totaling US$15 billion," he said in a statement quoted on Monday.
Lahadalia emphasized that the agreement only shifts import sources from other countries to the United States.
