Nduga distributes 50 tons of rice amid drought risk
Jayapura, Papua, Aug. 28 -- The Nduga district government in Indonesia's Papua Highlands Province has distributed 50 tons of rice to residents as drought threatens food supplies in the remote region.
Nduga District Head Yoas Beon said here Friday that the aid was prepared for residents across 32 subdistricts.
"Besides food, we are also addressing clean water needs, which have become a problem due to the current weather conditions," he said after the aid distribution.
Yoas said the local government must act quickly to ensure residents' basic needs are met as climate change affects the region.
