Jakarta, May 8 -- Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat stated that strengthening prevention efforts and law enforcement must be carried out simultaneously to improve the effectiveness of child protection in Indonesia.

According to her, recent child abuse cases across various regions indicate that the national protection system still has significant loopholes, ranging from supervision to victim handling.

"Strengthening prevention and law enforcement must go hand in hand. There should be no room for systemic violence against children," she stressed in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
