Lumajang, E Java, Sept. 7 -- A wildfire on Mount Semeru in East Java has been extinguished after burning over 3,000 hectares, following joint ground patrols and helicopter water-bombing operations.

Isnugroho, head of the Lumajang District Disaster Mitigation Agency, said containment was declared complete on Sept. 5 after no remaining hotspots were detected.

He noted that follow-up monitoring will be conducted by the National Park Management Section (SPTN) Region III Ranupani, under the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center.
