Kota Bandung, Sept. 8 -- Indonesia's Geological Agency said Mount Anak Krakatau's eruption in the Sunda Strait has returned to a Strombolian phase, marked by shorter eruptions and lower amplitudes.

Speaking in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday, Geological Agency Head Lana Saria said the volcano's current activity has returned to its typical Strombolian pattern.

Based on seismic monitoring, Saria said tremor activity at the volcano's observation post has steadily declined since September 5.

As of September 8, the volcano had produced eight small eruptions lasting 10 to 15 seconds, with ash and other material concentrated around the slopes and crater.
