Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- Indonesia's Public Works Ministry is building 375 sanitation facilities across North Sumatra in 2026 under a community-based infrastructure program that also employs local workers, the ministry said in Jakarta on Monday.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said the Community-Based Infrastructure (IBM) program was a priority because its benefits could be felt directly by communities through basic facilities and local employment.

"We are paying special attention to Community-Based Infrastructure. IBM is very important because its impact is closest to communities and directly benefits them, both physically and economically," Dody said.
