Makassar, S Sulawesi, Aug. 11 -- Transmigration Minister Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara has urged universities, particularly Hasanuddin University (Unhas), to play a greater role in producing high-quality human resources for remote areas, especially in eastern Indonesia.

Speaking in Makassar on Tuesday, Suryanagara said Unhas holds a strategic position as a center of excellence in education, science, and technology in eastern Indonesia.

"I see an extraordinary spirit at Unhas. I see it as an epicenter, a center of excellence in Eastern Indonesia, which aims to ensure that eastern Indonesia is not left behind by the western part of the country," he said after attending the campus orientation program for new students (PKKMB) at Unhas.
