Surabaya, April 12 -- Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has called for the acceleration of phase two construction under the tuition-free education program Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) in Surabaya, East Java, while stressing the need to meet the national completion target of June 20.

"I want all stakeholders to remain committed to completing construction on time. With the current progress, we expect the work to be finished before June 20, God willing," he said, adding that school operations are planned to begin on July 1.

Speaking in Surabaya on Sunday, Hanggodo reported that construction progress of Sekolah Rakyat in the city has reached 45 percent, while in Sampang District on Madura Island it has approached 40 percent.
