Mining company opens Sulawesi biodiversity conservation zone
Jakarta, June 24 -- PT Hengjaya Mineralindo has opened a High Conservation Value Area (HCVA) in Morowali District, Central Sulawesi, as part of efforts to support biodiversity conservation within and around its mining operations.
"The launch of a conservation area is a commitment to future generations. Through BIO-SPARK and the establishment of this High Conservation Value Area, we are demonstrating that biodiversity conservation is not separate from our business; it is a fundamental part of how we operate," Chief Operating Officer of Nickel Industries Tony Green said in a statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.
