Jakarta, March 30 -- The Indonesian government has issued a circular letter on measles precautions for healthcare workers following an increase in cases and the extraordinary occurrence (KLB) in several regions.

"With rising measles cases and hospitalizations, healthcare workers face high risk. Vigilance and protection measures must be strengthened in all health facilities," Acting Director General of Disease Control Andi Saguni said in Jakarta on Sunday.

He said healthcare workers are vulnerable due to frequent contact with patients.

As of the 11th week of 2026, 58 measles outbreaks were recorded in 39 districts and cities across 14 provinces. Cases reached 2,740 earlier this year but have declined to 177.
