Magnitude-7.7 quake damages over 30 structures in North Sulawesi
Jakarta, June 8 -- Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) reported damage to at least 27 homes and two churches in North Sulawesi Province following a magnitude-7.7 tectonic earthquake on Monday morning.
BNPB Center for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Head Abdul Muhari noted that data as of 12:30 p.m. Jakarta time showed quake-induced damage in residential areas across two archipelagic regions in the province.
"There are 27 households affected, comprising 20 families in Sangihe Islands District and seven others in Talaud Islands District. In addition, we have recorded 27 damaged homes in the two regions," he stated in Jakarta.
