Jakarta, March 17 -- Indonesia's Tourism Ministry said domestic travel will be a key driver of economic activity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, as millions of people are expected to travel across the country.

Deputy for Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini said the holiday period typically triggers large-scale, simultaneous travel, generating significant economic circulation.

"This holiday period marks a massive movement of domestic tourists. We believe this will create a substantial economic impact," she said during an online discussion on Tuesday.

She noted that travel surges during Eid involve both homecoming travelers and leisure tourists, boosting various sectors of the economy.
