Lawmaker supports deployment of Indonesian peacekeepers in Lebanon
Jakarta, May 13 -- Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Dave Laksono supports the government's decision to deploy army personnel to Lebanon, as it demonstrates Indonesia's continued commitment to maintaining world peace.
He believes that Indonesian peacekeepers serving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), does not only reflects international responsibility but also strengthens Indonesia's diplomacy in maintaining regional stability.
"Commission I expresses its highest appreciation to all departing soldiers," Dave said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
However, Dave also emphasized that the safety and well-being of the soldiers in Lebanon must remain a top priority.
