Jakarta, April 26 -- An Indonesian legislator has called for a full investigation into the daycare violence scandal in Yogyakarta, where hundreds of children were reportedly victimized, including 53 who suffered physical abuse.
Selly Andriany Gantina, a member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, said the case highlights a "tragic humanitarian issue" and exposes systemic failures in child supervision and protection within formal care institutions.
"The fact that hundreds of children have become victims is not just a number, it is a serious humanitarian tragedy," she said on Sunday.
