KPK questions immigration official in visa extortion case
Jakarta, Sept. 10 -- Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned an immigration official as a witness in an alleged extortion case involving residence permits for foreign nationals.
"KPK has scheduled an examination of WRM, an official with the Directorate of Residence Permits and Immigration Status at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections," KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.
KPK previously conducted a sting operation over alleged corruption involving the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals.
During the operation, Silmy Karim, who was then deputy minister of immigration and corrections, turned himself in to the KPK.
