Jakarta, May 17 -- The Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) called on Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), universities, and community organizations to form sexual violence task forces to prevent abuse and protect victims.

Komnas HAM Chairperson Anis Hidayah stated that establishing these task forces is an urgent need as cases of sexual violence remain prevalent.

Speaking virtually from Jakarta on Saturday during a discussion with Fatayat NU of Blitar District she emphasized integrated prevention mechanisms.

She explained that these task forces are essential to establish clear reporting channels, provide victim advocacy, and ensure swift responses.
