Jakarta, Sept. 18 -- The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is targeting the modernization of 950 fishing vessels by 2027 as part of efforts to strengthen the national capture fisheries fleet.

Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said in a press statement on Thursday (September 17) that fishing vessel modernization is one of the KKP's six national priority programs for 2027.

"We have received a presidential directive to realize development and food sovereignty goals through six national priority programs," he said.

The minister said the modernization target is part of the KKP's broader plan to modernize 4,582 fishing vessels by 2029.
