Kerinci, Jambi, Sept. 1 -- The Kerinci Seblat National Park authority has temporarily closed all Mount Kerinci hiking trails to help prevent forest and land fires.

The closure follows an announcement by Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni on Monday (August 31), acting park head Delfi Andra said here Tuesday.

"Kerinci Seblat National Park will close all hiking trails via Kerinci and South Solok," he said, adding that the closure takes effect September 1, 2026, with an official notice currently being prepared.

He urged residents, particularly those living near hiking trails and the national park, to help protect the area from fires.
