Denpasar, Bali, Sept. 17 -- Kazakh national Yuriy Khalilov, 25, went on trial in Denpasar District Court on Thursday, accused of bringing 2,544.10 grams of cocaine, or more than 2.5 kilograms, into Bali.

Prosecutor I Made Dipa Umbara told a panel of judges led by Wayan Suarta that Khalilov had communicated with a man named Igor, who is now wanted by police, via Telegram starting February 27, 2026.

"The two communicated through Telegram starting February 27, 2026," the prosecutor said.

Their communications continued until March 25, 2026.

The prosecutor said Igor offered Khalilov US$1,000 to carry a suitcase to Bali.
