Jakarta, June 14 -- Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno flagged off 45,500 runners participating in the 2026 BTN Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta, highlighting the capital's growing appeal as a sports tourism destination.

"The Jakarta Provincial Government is pleased with the successful staging of JAKIM 2026. On behalf of the Governor and myself, I would like to express our gratitude to the people of Jakarta. This city truly belongs to all of us," he said in a statement on Sunday.
