Jakarta's Gambir Station to add commuter rail service
Jakarta, June 27 -- Indonesia plans to transform Jakarta's Gambir Station into an integrated rail hub serving both long-distance and commuter trains, expanding capacity and improving connectivity as the government modernizes the country's railway network.
"Gambir Station, which has served long-distance trains, will later be integrated with KRL commuter rail services," Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said during a media briefing in Jakarta on Friday.
The overhaul is part of a beautification program designed to give Gambir Station a modern appearance while positioning it as a flagship for Indonesia's railway system with upgraded passenger facilities.
