Jakarta, Aug. 18 -- Jakarta police deployed 9,242 joint security personnel to guard 31 protests and 16 public activities across the capital on Tuesday, including events marking Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

The deployment includes 5,670 Jakarta Metropolitan Police personnel, 222 precinct officers, 1,500 military personnel, and 1,850 officers from National Police headquarters, police spokesman Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto said.

Security personnel were stationed at key locations across Central, East, and South Jakarta, including areas hosting events linked to Independence Day celebrations.
