Jakarta, Oct. 27 -- Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the fashion industry could play a strategic role in advancing the tourism sector, highlighting the government's efforts to strengthen services in shopping tourism.

"Fashion products could serve as a unique magnet attracting tourists to visit Indonesia," she noted in a press release cited in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Wardhana said the government aims to encourage visitors to discover the works of Indonesian fashion designers, visit traditional textile centers, observe creative production processes, and purchase products that reflect the nation's rich cultural heritage.
