Jakarta, May 26 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has donated 1,098 cattle for Eid al-Adha celebrations, distributing the sacrificial animals to regional governments, Islamic boarding schools, religious institutions, and community leaders nationwide, officials said on Tuesday.

Deputy State Secretary Minister Juri Ardiantoro said 598 cattle would be distributed to all 38 provinces and 514 districts and cities, while another 500 would go to educational and social institutions.

"For Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah, the president is donating 1,098 sacrificial cattle across Indonesia," Juri told reporters at the presidential palace complex in Jakarta.
