Indonesian Navy prepares 310 personnel for first aircraft carrier
Jakarta, Sept. 17 -- The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is training 310 personnel to crew KRI Sriwijaya, the country's first aircraft carrier, which previously served in the Italian Navy as ITS Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The TNI AL Fleet Command (Koarmada) said in a statement on Thursday that Indonesia had prepared a series of exercises for prospective crew members of the Italian-made aircraft carrier.
"Lessons are being taught with a focus on the knowledge, skills and professionalism that every soldier must have before serving aboard KRI Sriwijaya," said Colonel Wishnu Ardiansyah, head of Koarmada's Information Service.
He said the TNI AL had assigned officers with relevant expertise and backgrounds to provide training for the 310 personnel.
