Kota Padang, May 12 -- Indonesia plans to renovate 131 underperforming class C public hospitals by 2027 to improve healthcare access, particularly in remote and underdeveloped regions, Deputy Health Minister Benjamin Paulus Octavianus said on Tuesday.
"We will prepare funding for the renovation of 131 underperforming class C hospitals in 2027," Octavianus said in Padang, West Sumatra.
He said Indonesia has built around 130 new hospitals over the past decade, including 66 facilities upgraded from class D and D Pratama regional hospitals to class C status.
During the initial phase of the hospital development program, the government identified 66 districts that previously had no hospitals, he added.
