Jakarta, April 8 -- Indonesia welcomed the two-week ceasefire deal between the US and Iran which includes a temporary reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang said the move reflects the openness of the warring parties to pursue diplomacy.
"Indonesia sees this momentum as a positive start and encourages optimal utilization of this opportunity to advance a sustainable peaceful resolution," she said here on Wednesday.
She emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only ways to resolve the conflict in the Gulf region.
Mewengkang continued that Indonesia's contribution to easing tensions will be based specifically on this diplomatic approach.
