Jakarta, April 9 -- Indonesia has issued a warning to Google, the owner of YouTube, for failing to comply with new child protection regulations governing digital platforms.
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said Thursday that the government issued a formal warning after an inspection on April 7 found YouTube had not met compliance obligations under Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025, known as PP Tunas.
"It was found that YouTube has not fulfilled its compliance obligations and has not stated its intention to comply with applicable laws in the near future," Hafid said.
PP Tunas, which came into effect on March 28, 2026, requires platforms to implement strict governance measures to protect minors online.
