Jakarta, July 23 -- Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono declared sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as the future of global aviation and a critical component of national decarbonization efforts.

Speaking at the Indonesia Zero Emission Heavy-Duty Vehicle (IZEHDV) Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday, the minister, widely known as AHY, said the government is preparing to mandate the use of SAF starting in 2027.

"This is the future of global aviation. If we start moving in that direction, this can also contribute significantly to overall emission reductions," AHY said before industry leaders and policymakers.
