Jakarta, April 24 -- Indonesia is committed to importing 150 million barrels of oil from Russia in phases until the end of 2026, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot confirmed.
"The import will be carried out in phases," Yuliot stated at the ministry office on Friday.
The deputy minister explained that the decision to import oil in phases, instead of in bulk, was made with consideration of Indonesia's oil storage capacity.
The oil imported from Russia will not be exclusively for Indonesian public consumption, as it will also be allocated to the industrial, mining, and petrochemical sectors.
"The 150 million oil barrels' import is to fulfill our demand until the end of this year," he remarked.
