Indonesia to build 100 modern rice warehouses: Minister
Jakarta, June 11 -- Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that the government will build 100 new warehouses for the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), designed to preserve rice quality for at least two years, as part of efforts to strengthen the national food reserve system.
Speaking during a working meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday, Sulaiman said the project has received government approval with a budget allocation of around Rp5 trillion (approximately US$278 million) to reinforce Indonesia's food logistics infrastructure.
"We are indeed building new warehouses. There will be 100 warehouse locations, valued at Rp5 trillion, and the project has already been approved," he said.
