Jakarta, Aug. 4 -- President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of Indonesia-Thailand relations, noting that both nations are founding members of ASEAN and play an influential role in shaping developments in Southeast Asia.

"Our relationship greatly influences the situation in Southeast Asia," he said during a joint statement with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (August 3).

Prabowo said the Thai prime minister's visit to Indonesia is significant, as the two countries are founding members of ASEAN and among the region's major economic powers.
