Indonesia targets US$521B sports industry to boost economic growth
Jakarta, Aug. 29 -- Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani says the development of the sports industry has significant potential to drive national economic growth.
"The sports industry has enormous potential and can bring this economic sector to a higher level. The impact is not limited to the cities hosting such activities but extends to the economy as a whole, including tourism and other industries," Roeslani said in an official statement here on Saturday.
According to Roeslani, his ministry has strengthened coordination with the Youth and Sports Ministry to open up investment opportunities in the sports industry, which is estimated to be worth US$521 billion, or about Rp8,000 trillion.
