Indonesia targets nuclear plant site selection by 2027 at latest
Jakarta, Sept. 30 -- Indonesia plans to finalize the location for its first nuclear power plant by 2026 or 2027 at the latest, signaling a firm commitment to integrating atomic energy into the country's clean energy transition.
"The government is already pursuing a nuclear power plant. God willing, in 2026 or 2027 at the latest, the government will have determined its site," Deputy for Energy and Mineral Resources Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Elen Setiadi said at a World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia seminar here on Wednesday.
He noted that the final choice of location will depend heavily on the specific nuclear technology selected.
