Indonesia targets global Muslim tourists with halal tourism push
Jakarta, Oct. 8 -- The Indonesian government is preparing supporting facilities, including prayer spaces, as well as halal food and products, across key tourist destinations to attract more international Muslim tourists to Indonesia.
Ministry of Tourism spokesperson Nia Niscaya said Indonesia has strong potential to capitalize on the growing global Muslim-friendly tourism market.
"According to data from the 2025 Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), the market currently accounts for 186 million trips and is projected to reach 245 million by 2030, representing US$235 billion in spending," Nia told ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
