Indonesia steps up foreign surveillance to curb online gambling rings
Bekasi, W Java, May 19 -- Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto has ensured that his ministry will step up surveillance to prevent foreign nationals from carrying out online gambling operations in Indonesia.
The decision was highlighted in response to the recent arrest of 320 foreign nationals suspected of being involved in illegal digital gambling networks.
"I have instructed the Director General to increase surveillance at all locations that could potentially be used to host similar activities," Andrianto told the press when met in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday.
According to him, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections faces distinct challenges in detecting problematic foreign nationals entering Indonesia.
