Jakarta, Sept. 25 -- Indonesia has signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, joining 90 other parties in endorsing the United Nations' first global framework designed to combat cross-border digital offenses.

Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono signed the landmark agreement at UN Headquarters in New York on Thursday (September 24) during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.

"For Indonesia, this Convention is crucial for strengthening efforts to prevent and criminalize cyber offenses at the national level," Sugiono said in a statement on Friday.
