Jayapura, July 25 -- The Indonesian government is seeking clarification from Papua New Guinean authorities over a reported shooting that injured the captain of a fishing boat from Merauke, South Papua.

Indonesian Consul in Vanimo Alexander Tangkuman told ANTARA on Saturday that his office is awaiting an official report from authorities in Daru, the capital of Papua New Guinea's Western Province.

He said the government expects a comprehensive report detailing the sequence of events surrounding the incident, including any possible violations committed by the vessel.

Tangkuman added that he visited the captain, Ma'rufuddin Dhuhri, on Tuesday (July 21), describing him as being in stable condition at a hospital in Daru.
