Indonesia, Aug. 1 -- Indonesian border security troops have provided free medical services to remote communities in Tiom Subdistrict, Lanny Jaya District, Papua Highlands Province, as part of efforts to strengthen ties with residents.

Captain Ckm Dr. Alhamra, a doctor with the 511/DY Infantry Battalion Border Security Task Force, said the program aimed to bring the military closer to local communities.

"We conducted visits to residents' homes followed by free health services for people in Tiom Subdistrict, Lanny Jaya," Alhamra said in a statement from Wamena on Saturday.

He said the activity reflected the military's commitment to improving public health in areas where troops are deployed.
