Bandung, July 23 -- The tuition-free education program, Sekolah Rakyat (People's School), is expected to serve around 45,000 children across Indonesia in 2026, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said on Thursday that the projected enrollment reflects the government's commitment to ensuring inclusive access to quality education for children who are out of school, have dropped out, or are at risk of dropping out due to economic hardship.

"Last year, the total number of Sekolah Rakyat students exceeded 15,000. We have decided to increase this year's admission quota by 30,000," he said in Bandung District, West Java.
