Indonesia's rice reserves sufficient for next 10 months: Minister
Jakarta, June 18 -- Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman reported to President Prabowo Subianto that national rice reserves are in a safe condition and are projected to be sufficient to meet demand for approximately the next 10 months.
Speaking after a limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace here on Thursday, Sulaiman stated that national rice stocks currently stand at around 5.2 million tons. In addition, potential production from standing crops is estimated at 10-11 million tons.
According to him, rice availability held by households, hotels, and restaurants is also estimated at around 12.5 million tons.
