Jakarta, March 23 -- Indonesia could achieve greater budget efficiency by reallocating funds from imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking to programs encouraging households to switch to electric stoves, a lawmaker said.
"Our calculations indicate that the transition to electric stoves will cost less than LPG imports," Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Eddy Soeparno told ANTARA when contacted from Jakarta on Monday.
He referred to an assessment conducted by the House of Representatives (DPR) and state electricity company PLN during his previous term as deputy chair of DPR Commission VII in 2022.
