Jakarta, April 26 -- Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said on Sunday that sport is a vital investment in building a healthy, productive and empowered society.

He said public interest in sport has been rising, driven by a broader focus on wellness, and expressed hope it would support a healthier, more equitable and prosperous Indonesia.

He made the remarks while attending the fourth anniversary of Meta Run, themed "Wellness."

He praised the event's wellness focus, particularly its inclusivity, which involved diverse groups including the deaf community.

He said the approach showed sport can be a shared space open to all without discrimination.
