Jakarta, Sept. 10 -- Indonesia's mining sector generated 108 trillion rupiah (US$6.15 billion) in non-tax revenue through August 31, up 21 trillion rupiah from the same period last year, the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry said.

The increase was partly driven by higher prices for several mineral and coal commodities, Tri Winarno, the ministry's Director General for Minerals and Coal, said at a mining conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

Coal-related non-tax revenue reached 66 trillion rupiah (US$3.76 billion) through August 31, up from 59 trillion rupiah in the same period last year.

The increase came despite lower coal production, Tri said.
