Jakarta, Sept. 11 -- Indonesia's Fisheries Ministry said lobster farming trials in Batam have produced market-sized lobsters that have been sold to Singapore, demonstrating the potential of domestic aquaculture for export.

Director General of Aquaculture Tb Haeru Rahayu said the achievement showed Indonesia could farm lobsters from lobster larvae, known as BBL, through to market size.

"This shows we can farm lobsters from the BBL stage to market size, and the output can already be sold and exported," he said in the ministry's press statement released here Friday.
