Kuala Lumpur, Sept. 6 -- Indonesia's seventh president, Joko Widodo, called for a "United Nations 2.0" to address increasingly complex conflicts and strengthen global mediation, diplomacy and institutions to maintain peace.

Jokowi made the remarks during a speech at the Penang Peace Dialogue in Penang, Malaysia, on Sunday, urging reforms to make the United Nations more effective.

He said conflicts were increasingly interconnected, with their effects crossing national borders and creating challenges that existing global institutions struggled to address effectively.
