Jakarta, Sept. 8 -- Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said Indonesia's economy is ready to accelerate toward 6 percent growth after his first year in office as the country's finance minister.

He made the statement at a media briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday, marking one year since he took office as finance minister on Sept. 8, 2025.

"I think growth in the third quarter of this year could approach 6 percent. For me, the most interesting thing as an economist is when theory is tested in the field and the results match reality," Purbaya said.

He said Indonesia had moved beyond the stagnant growth trend of around 5 percent, although economic growth remained subject to fluctuations.
